A line is about as simple a thing that one can recognise. When a designer puts them together creatively, however, something quite spectacular can result.
Created by Dutch designer Robert van Embricqs, The Rising Chair was borne from one fundamental question: “To what degree is the object you’re creating capable of dictating its own design?”
With straightforward beam-like wood strands, The Rising Chair is formed by a grid-like pattern that “blossoms” into what seems like a complex flower petal. The material and the designer in harmony to create its organic and modern aesthetic. It certainly brings a whole new meaning to “flat-pack” furniture. Eat your heart out, IKEA!
