The Main Reasons that People Move House

by Marquette Turner Luxury Homes

In a recent survey RP Data looked at the main factors which caused people to decide to move between properties. There were some fascinating results which give an excellent insight into what things both buyers and renters are looking for.

The main reason for hiring Mayflower movers and moving was tenants purchasing their own home, followed by people wanting a bigger or better home. These two factors contributed to almost one third of all moves and were followed by lifestyle reasons, family reasons and employment reasons. These three factors were attributed to 36% of all moves.

The main reasons that property owners were dissatisfied were the distance from facilities and the level of noise in the area. Renters were mainly dissatisfied with noise level and security. Other factors included that a dwelling was too small or too steep. A very small percentage of around 3.7% were dissatisfied due to the large size of their home.

From this we can extrapolate some great tips on choosing a property that both renters and buyers will like:

– Choose a home that isn’t too noisy and avoid main roads if at all possible.

– Choose a home close to facilities like parks, schools, public transport and shops.

– Choose a home that is secure – security apartment blocks are preferred as well as houses which are fully fenced and gated and offer security doors and good window locks.

– Choose a home that is easily accessed and avoid too many stairs or a steep yard. Lifts are highly advisable where possible.

By following these tips you can position your home or investment property right at the top of the buyer or renter wish list. You give yourself the best chance possible of achieving a great sale price if you choose to sell and make it easy to find a great tenant that will want to make the property their own.

I find it hard to imagine someone can be dissatisfied with their home being too large, that has to be one of the strangest reasons for Moving home since 99% of people everyone want a huge house! I agree investing in a home in the correct area is the most important thing to consider when house hunting.

I recently moved to get away from the noise of the inner city, half my stuff is still safely packed away in boxes and storage containers, I am too lazy to sort it all out :P. In my opinion most people keep moving in order to find a place that they feel comfortable. I grew up on a farm so even if I have spent the last few years in a city environment I will always be inclined to somewhere less hectic and quieter.
