Uluru (Ayres Rock): A Great Aboriginal Australian Wonder of the World

Uluru, Standing 348m high, the Rock and Park are jointly managed by the local Anangu people and Parks Australia who request that visitors don’t walk up Uluru, because it is a sacred site.  It is estimated that 100,000 people climb the rock each year, approximately one third of the number of visitors to the park. Australia’s Environment Minister, Peter Garrett, believes climbing it should be banned, as do Marquette Turner.
