In 1870, the Utrecht Old Catholic Parish ordered the construction of a church and vicarage and being the only church in Utrecht in the so-called ‘plasterers’ gothic style, the Saint Jakobus Church was at best “soberly decorated”.
Now, however, it is a true modern architectural masterpiece. Converted in 2009, the transformation was masterly conducted by renowned Utrecht-based firm of ZECC Architects, and their great attention to light, space and functionality is complemented by the interior styling of Thomas Haukes from (springers)wonen.
“WoonkerkXL” (“Residential Church XL”) is a true example of how original design can be harmoniously blended with modern living and is offered for sale at €1.975 million.
