When space is at a premium, utilizing every last inch is essential.
This is perhaps no more true than in Hong Kong, where space is a luxury.
Architect Gary Chang took this to heart when trying to make the best of his 300 sq ft apartment. Using an ingenious sliding wall system, he is able to create 24 different combinations of rooms. For instance, the kitchen can be found behind the TV, the guest bed appears from above the bath, and there’s even a screening room and hammock.
Together with floor-to-ceiling windows and ceiling mirrors, light and energy efficiency are maximised.
He calls this system the “domestic transformer”.
