For those whom watched the maiden Formula 1 Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi this year, it was difficult not to be in awe of the stunning setting.
The $36 billion USD Yas Marina Development, hosted the event and now the building that was the spectacular centerpiece – the Yas Hotel – has opened to the public.
A truly breathtaking location set half on land and half on water, overlooking the marina and right on the Grand Prix circuit, the hotel is veiled by a 217 metre, curvilinear steel structure featuring 5800 diamond-shaped glass panels that pivot. This design seeks to mimic a local fishing net.
Designed by New York-based Asymptote Architecture the 499 contemporary room hotel also features 14 restaurants and lounges, 18 hole gold course, a 10 treatment room spa, a gym and rooftop swimming pools.
