When it comes to Soccer, there is plenty of passion and pride throughout the World, so both Russian’s and Qatari’s alike must be positively glowing after FIFA’s recent announcement that the country’s will host the 2018 and 2022 World Cup’s respectively.

Hosting the World Cup is one of the greatest opportunities to showcase one’s country in the best possible light, and for the majority of spectator’s this will be done from afar on television (or whatever media we’re using in 2018 and 2022), so the Stadium’s take on a life of their own as the symbols of the nation.

So away from the press coverage on the “politics” of the decision, we wanted to briefly highlight the proposed stadiums of the winning Qatari bid, which demonstrates that the spirit of innovation and competition that is circulating amongst the oil-rich Middle Eastern nations is alive and well.

Whilst we are somewhat disappointed with the unambitious and generally bland design’s proposed by Russia for 2018, we find the majority of the 12 plans of Qatar’s exciting and in some cases breathtaking.

Take a browse through the image gallery to see the Qatari stadium’s or take a few moments to watch the videos. Whether you’re a soccer fan or not and whether you agree or not with the hosting decisions, we hope like us that you’re impressed and energized by the designs.
