We often forget just how easy lamb shanks are too cook, so don’t miss this opportunity to cook a wonderful meal using this extremely simple recipe.
Ingredients (Serves 4)
4 Lamb Shanks (have your butcher trim them)
1 Brown Onion, chopped
2 Cloves Garlic, crushed
160ml Red Wine
700ml Bottle Italian Cooking Sauce
2tsp Olive Oil
2tbsn Plain Flour
Salt & Fresh Ground Pepper
Method
Heat oil in a large heavy based saucepan over medium heat. Season flour with salt and pepper, coat lamb in flour, shake off excess. Add to pan and cook, turning often, 5-6 minutes or until browned. Remove. Add onion and garlic and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened slightly.
Increase heat and add wine to pan and cook for 2 minutes. Stir in Italian Cooking Sauce and simmer. Add lamb shanks to pan. Cover and reduce heat to low. Cook, covered for 3-4 hours. Season with salt and pepper. Serve with mashed potato and beans.
