It’s strange in business that we keep some parts of our lives quieter than others and it can be hard to get to know clients and them us in the short spaces of time we generally all work together. Vendors are usually experiencing massive changes in their lives and buyers can be panic stricken in their attempt to secure the home that is just right for them.
We discuss things like recent sales in the area, buyer price interest levels and of course negotiation and sales strategy to achieve the best result. All of this is vital but it doesn’t allow for clients to really get to know me.
Something I wanted to share today is that I’m a massive Brisbane Broncos fan and have followed the team since they entered the competition in 1988. I was playing rugby league throughout my childhood and my idol was a player called Gene Miles who was a foundation player and the second captain of the Brisbane Broncos, after Wally Lewis.
It was strange growing up in Newcastle and not supporting the Knights but what was I to do? My favourite player was a Bronco. My family owned a little pug dog and I called him Bronco in my obsessive support of my team and I tried to copy the way Gene Miles played (especially his customary basketball passes) and as a result they are my team through and through. This is the 22nd season I have supported them and my loyalty has never waived.
I played rugby league for the junior representative teams, including the Newcastle Knights Juniors until study took over and there was simply no time to devote to rugby league. It was a difficult time and a strange situation as Brisbane was my team – yet I was playing for an opposing club.
