Island Eco-Resort & Entertainment Project in the Caspian Sea

One of the world’s largest eco-developments is being created on Zira Island in the Caspian Sea, just off the Azerbaijan capital of Baku.
Planned as a zero-energy project, the “resort and entertainment” creation will resemble the “seven peaks of Azerbaijan,” each “peak” being buildings covered in solar panels, which will house residential, retail and commercial space for the resort.

Designed by the Danish architectural firm Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), the entire project plans to cover more than 1 million square meters (about 11 million square feet) and include a golf course and 300 beach villas.
Offshore wind turbines, desalination plants, solar panels and circulating water will help make the project completely carbon neutral, the designers say.
