French Polynesia in the South Pacific is one of those dream-like, paradisiacal locations that’s hard to beat.
Hollywood legend, the late Marlon Brando, star of the Godfather series, was someone captivated by the beauty of the islands, and had a vision for an indyllic hideaway.
“The Brando” is currently under construction on the island of Tetiaroa, a 13-island chain circled by a coral reef 35 miles from the (main) island of Tahiti, and was a former playground for Tahitian Kings purchased by Brando in 1965.
The resort, the only on the island, will feature 47 deluxe villas – each with private pools – a spa, fitness center, community pool, as well as various island activities including scuba diving and archaeological tours of royal Tahitian sites. Scheduled for completion in late 2012, the resort’s style and design will be heavily influenced by the Tahitian Kings of yonder.
