Growing Vases Blooming from Flowers by Nendo

For a recent project designers Nendo were challenged with showcasing the artistry of venerable Czech Bohemian glass maker Lasvit’s Glassblowers in an abstract, impractical and incomplete way.

Using the metal pipes used by the glassblowers, still attached to the glass objects that they were used to make, Nendo playfully turned convention on its head from making flowers blooming in vases into vases blooming from flowers to represent the flower bulbs that draw nutrients from plants through photosynthesis and store new life.

The concept is quirky, its skillful and it certainly showcases blown glass in a new way.
