The Wimbledon Tennis Championships are on at the moment and while we are all glued to our televisions each evening and are usually still there until early morning. This got us thinking about some of the fabulous tennis players who have used their fame and fortune to help those less fortunate, particularly children. Andre Agassi and Stephanie Graff, came to mind immediately.
In a recent tournament held in Paris, both Stephanie Graff and Andre Agassi were joined by talented young players from ten different countries, to play a total of eight matches.
Longines donated US$80,000 to two charity foundations – The Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation and Children for Tomorrow. Andre Agassi and Stephanie Graff are the Ambassadors of Elegance for Longines.
The tennis tournament was followed by a gastronomical dinner prepared by one of Switzerland’s leading chefs, musical entertainment and an auction featuring two timepieces created by Longine. The grand sum of US$220,000 was raised and donated to the two former tennis champions’ charity organisations.
