AAMI Victoria Derby Day 31st October
Derby Day kicks off the Melbourne Cup Carnival in style with the highest quality single day of thoroughbred racing in the country.
Emirates Melbourne Cup 3rd November
The race that stops the nation is the richest handicap event in the world and guarantees the victor a revered place in the history books.

Crown Oaks Day 5th November
Traditionally known as “ladies day”, Australia’s premier race for three year old fillies is outshone by the two-legged variety.

Emirates Stakes Day 7th November
The Melbourne Cup Carnival finale is a relaxed day of family fun and high end fashion.
A few years ago I was a guest at the carnival and attended the Melbourne Cup and Oaks Day. Two new outfits and two new hats! Not being a gambler, my first impression of “the sport of kings” was fantastic.
Take a glass of champagne, place a bet at the Tote and if you are game, go to a Bookmaker (and my foolproof method of choosing a winner – what colours are the jockeys wearing and which ones do I like?). Then move to the track and watch the race. Do this nine times throughout the day and you are sure to enjoy horse racing, although I’m still none the wiser in picking a winner at the track!
