Environment: What is You Ecological Footprint?

Do you know what your Ecological Footprint means? It is the measurement used to calculate how much human pressure we place on our planet.

I have just taken a test to find out what my Ecological Footprint is. What a shock! I am horrified to learn how high it is as I thought I was quite “green”.

Global Footprint Network stated that if everyone lived the lifestyle of the average American,  we would need 5 planets. My results stated I would need 4.6 planets.

I encourage everyone to take this test.     www.ecofoot.org

I got 4.2 Planet Earths. It's because of my choice of food and the fact that I have to drive to work everyday. I think everyone needs to take this quiz, so they can be aware of how their lifestyle is, essentially, affecting the planet!

  • Hi Amanda

I was exactly the same - too much meat eating for sure. I didn't realise eating meat had such an impact on the planet. The quiz definitely makes you more conscious of how your lifestyle impacts everyone else!

Hey simon! I'm sure that's exactly why mine was so bad as well! I need to become a semi vegetarian or something! I'm glad I took the quiz, too.

    Have a great day!

  • i thought i was reasonably appreciative of the planet, but my pressure is 4.7 times sustainability
  • My God Christine

I am flawed - 4.9 Planet Earths and 8.8 hectares - that's disgusting. 40% of my carbon footprint is due to transport and 35% is due to my choice of food. Now that's crazy stuff. Let's push for renewable sources of energy to power cars and so on.
