Simon Turner of Marquette Turner Luxury Homes writes:
No one can accuse the powers that be in the United Arab Emirates of not being visionary.
Some of the architecture coming out of the Emirates is truly ground-breaking and world-leading. Whilst Dubai received the majority of the attention earlier in the decade, Abu Dhabi has powered in front.
We’ve previously featured the Nurai Island development (which Marquette Turner Luxury Homes are involved in the sale of), plus of course the Yas Marina Development, the location of the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The Strata Tower, by architects Asymptote – the guru’s behind the Yas Marina project, have designed this amazing 40 storey tower. It is 160 metres in height, and is expected to be completed in 2011.
Some of the more distinctive features include its environmentally responsive louver system and side mounted heli-pad. The louvre system was designed specifically for the intense heat of the region and is integrated into the building’s cantilevered exoskeleton which surrounds the building.
This is definitely another landmark building that will set the standard for many (no doubt) future buildings.
