Whether it’s the leg of an antique wooden chair or the surface of a brand-new coffee table, small dings can be unsightly as well as a little soul destroying.

They don’t have to be, and all it takes is a walnut!

It may sound like an old wives tale, but using a walnut to cover up these scratches and scrapes really does work. All you have to do is rub the problem area of your furniture with the walnut, and you’ll find that the scrape quickly darkens.

It may not be a magical solution, but it sure is a quick and simple way of covering up the problem!

Recently one of Sydney’s Councils budgeted $536,460 for graffiti removal, believing the best way to fight graffiti is to remove it quickly.

Tougher laws are being introduced to try and reduce the amount of graffiti sweeping our suburbs. People now found carrying pens, paint or spray cans face and $1,100 fine or three month’s jail. On the spot fines can now be issued to retailers who sell spray paint to people under the age of 18.

From a real estate perspective, rarely does a real estate signboard on a property go unscathed! Driving through a suburban street last week, three signboards had been vandalized with graffiti. What should the owners and agents do to combat this blatant vandalism?

Keeping signboards “up high” has been one suggestion – that way the offenders cannot reach them. But does this mean the number of people being able to read them is reduced? There are a number of graffiti removing products, not to mention Mineral Turpentine and Methylated Spirits. Unfortunately some of these products remove part of the artwork on the signboard.

Most signboard manufacturers offer a service to come out and remove the graffiti for a small charge. We would love to hear how you overcome this growing problem.

Once upon a time, email newsletters were rare and a great way of staying up-to-date with the news from ones favorite companies and their websites.

Today, it often seems that every man and his dog produces an e-newsletter, and with the best will in the world, it’s hard to stay on top of things at best, and hard to trawl through an email inbox that seems to be impossible to clear and get on top of.

But do not fret – you don’t need to move mountains to get over this issue – there’s a way to work around the problem.

I am a big fan of Google Reader (there are many other Readers, such as Its main competitors are NewsGator Online, Rojo.com and Bloglines). It means that I no longer have an inbox full of email newsletters.

The reader is an “aggregator”. It allows you to keep track of your favorite websites.

A Reader constantly checks your favorite news sites and blogs for new content. Whether a site updates daily or monthly, you can be sure that you won’t miss a thing. Further to that, you can check the reader in your own time, rather than being “distracted” every time a new email comes into your inbox.

As a company that produces an email newsletter ourselves, we are acutely aware that it’s increasingly not for everyone, and we’re finding that more and more people are subscribing to our RSS feeds, preferring it to emails.

Quite simply, a Reader shows you all of your favorite sites in one convenient place and acts like a personalized inbox for the entire web. It can organize your feeds, remove them when read and many more “considerate” things.

Watch the Google Reader Help Video HERE

To subscribe to the feeds of Marquette Turner Luxury Homes, simply enter your email address in the RSS box in the top right hand element of the sidebar on our website. It’s where you see the orange RSS logo (as shown below).

Alternatively, click here and you’ll find all our feeds as well as a step-by-step guide of how to add our feeds to a reader.

Of course, if you’d still like to receive our e-magazine into your email inbox, be our guests. If you’re not already signed up, just click here.

By the way, if you’re wondering what RSS stands for, Really Simple Syndication is the most commonly accepted meaning!
