Michael Marquette’s “View from the Bridge” this week looks at where Australian interest rates are heading: It is widely believed that Australian interest rates will increase by a further 0.25% when the Reserve Bank meets on February 2. The markets have already factored in the rise, with positive economic data showing continued strength within the economy.
Never ones to sit on their hands in the face of a potential threat, the Chinese Government have taken action to quell a potential property bubble. The 11 measures imposed will restrict foreign investors and speculators by increasing the “monitoring of capital flow and trans-boundary investment and financing activities so as to prevent credit from entering the real estate sector illegally and stop overseas speculative funds from jeapordizing China’s property market”.
Despite passing away in August 2009 at the age of 77, Senator Kennedy has again been in the news recently, not just because the battle for his Senate seat in Massachusetts has been completed (and won by Scott Brown, a Republican that shares a number of similarities with the his predecessor) but also because his stunning mansion in Washington, DC is up for sale.
Where is Australia’s most expensive suburb and council area? Which state has the most expensive suburbs? These are questions that the Marquette Turner team often get asked, by Australian’s and non-Australian’s alike.
